Honey Chacha


In Georgia, in the oldest country of winemaking, production of Chacha is directly related to viticulture.

The vast majority of the Chacha was made from fruit and winemaking waste, however in the mountains - from grain crops.

Folk rules of Chacha-making have great tradition in Georgia. It is mainly used for family needs. In the past there were the ways in which the Georgian peasant has grown vodka. Different techniques that peasants were using for making Chacha are kept till today.

“Most part of Chacha-making technologies are lost or very little amount of people do know about that” - said Georgian ethnographer Aleksandre Jeladze.

Georgian Chacha was prepared from various raw materials including plum, grapes, oak, mixed fruit, apples, honey, persimmon, acacia and pear.
